The Dexter Smith Interview
Why no Bonfire in Slough?
"Rockets don't pollute as they go high up into the atmosphere"
Cllr Dexter Smith, commissioner for transport and planning, was heard floundering on radio station LBC as he struggled to justify the council’s concerns and also indicated that the fireworks display was also more inclusive to the Asian community.
But he told the Observer he was ‘sidetracked’ by presenter Nick Ferrari and added: “We’d be mad to have a bonfire because it releases a lot of CO2 gases and Upton Court Park is next to an air quality action zone.”
The decision to ban the bonfire was made in private by select councillors in the cabinet last year with no public consultation. (Excerpt from Slough Observer)
These people are running our town, God help us.
